Syria has heated up its atrocities by using chemical weapons against its own people this week according to some sources.
While it is not our place to invade attack or otherwise interfere in a civil war, one has to wonder as to the intent of our President and our foreign policy. It continues to vary wildly and that is never a good thing. One does not know where the United States stands on many issues, and that is creating a power vacuum overseas, which is leading to more violence.
President Obama has been inconsistent from day one on the Middle East. He condemns Republicans for the ‘war on women’, but is silent on the barbaric treatment of women around the world by Islamic extremists, including attacks on foreign tourists. He promotes the ideology of peace and wins a Nobel Prize but continue to launch drones into foreign lands and murder their tribal leaders. Obama says the use of chemical weapons is game changer, and then continues to pursue a policy of abject non-interference when it is obvious Syria uses them. Men are killed at the Benghazi consulate, and when other US interests are threatened he simple tucks tail and runs rather than defend them.
Our foreign policy is all over the place, and bears no cohesion to domestic issues which ideologically are intertwined.
Violence is foreign countries is a foregone conclusion as is overseas wars. They start and stop all the time. But the United States certainly does not have to help it along. The US has been a stabilizing force in the world, and not just because of its military. Its economy and trade established ties between nations; its bully pulpit of the Presidency establishes a moral compass the world follows. The threat of intervention brings people to the bargaining table.
All of this has been consistently misused by this President. Our economic policies have damaged our economy to the point where foreign aid is threatened and becomes a target by Congressmen. Our military does not act where it needs to and over reacts in places where it is not wanted. We use subterfuge and espionage against our own people, but where it is so desperately needed to support our interest overseas it is almost nonexistent.
The incompetence is startling to the point where the American people begin to think its own government is an enemy, acting in this fashion to bring upon the electorate a police state tyranny and destabilize the world for its own prurient interests.
The worst part? Hundreds of thousands of people around the world are now at risk for extermination. Whole populations could simply cease to exist as a result of this careless ignorance of foreign lands and what drives world peace. The US has largely kept the peace since 1945 not because of its nuclear weapons, but because of skillful management of its hard won hegemony.
This is what Mitt Romney meant last year when he questioned Obama’s foreign policy in the debates. It’s too bad the American people could not understand this.
Worse for the world, they simply may not care.
I read with interest a story about a company that was selling plots of land on the moon (of all places) for about fifty bucks a month for an acre.
No it’s not a joke.
Apparently, the moon cannot be claimed by any sovereign nation as their soil, according to international treaty, and therefore is unclaimed land. As a result, a quick web search has provided me with several Lunar Real Estate companies to choose from. One can only imagine the kind of sales pitch the agent might give.
As a result I’ve decided to stake out my own plot of land on the lunar surface. Since any company can sell land they don’t own, as long as it is on the moon, I’ve chosen to set out a plot of land there. Why pay some company for it, why not just stake out a claim early before the rest of crowd arrives?
My land is approximately 200 acres of prime lunar real estate on the Boussingault-Hommel/Southeastern Limb area of the satellite. No sense being greedy. Two hundred acres seems adequate for my purposes of homesteading, should I ever mange to get there. As you look at the moon from Earth, that’s in the lower left section right about where Brazil would be. I chose that site since the temperatures were moderate (for the Moon that is) and provides both a good view of terrestrial sunsets and is a short hike from the eastern edge of the dark side for galactic observations.
Since it’s near the southern pole, it has a good shot as having ground water should it exist. With any luck I’ll be able to grow lunar mushrooms a few short months after arrival to feed myself. That’s assuming the moon isn’t made out of green cheese. It also is set up against a nice mountain range for cool evenings on the porch watching the Earth set against their backdrop.
It will make a wonderful retirement home. Lawn maintenance will be a snap.
Seriously, is anyone actually buying land that this company is purportedly selling? Well yes, apparently they are- over 300 million acres sold since 1980 according to their website. At 50 bucks an acre, that’s a lot of money, and a lot of people that are going to be supremely sorry to find they actually don’t own the land should they ever manage to get to the moon. Pretty soon, they are going to have boiler room operations going where you can buy timeshares I would imagine. With these plaid jacket types anything is possible. This lunar land deal is probably one of the greatest scams ever. No water or any way to get to it, and by the time people can, this company will be long gone.
All I can say is, they better not try and sell my land from under me. I plan to fence that bad boy off as soon as I can get up there and stake my claim. Anybody that tries to jump my claim is going to have to deal with me and my 12 gauge Buck Rogers Ray Gun and my cyberdog Rex.
Remember, there are no gun laws in outer space. And if any of those liberals DO manage to make it up here, I’m going to do the universe a favor.
I’ll let you take one guess as to what that is.
The concept of mob rule is sweeping over America in terrible fashion and it is going to brush away many of our constitutional rights.
The latest victim in this foaming frenzy of political correctness is rodeo clown from Missouri who is being held to public crucifixion in order to satisfy the teeming throngs of hungry piranha that long for a new victim.
At the Missouri state fair, this entertainer dared make fun of the President in an act of political satire and buffoonery and for that is being subjected to the will of angry mob who proverbially will tear him to pieces for it. Make no mistake; this is an attack on free speech as much as it is an attack on this clown.
If we are all Trayvon Martin, then we are all rodeo clowns, who merely engaged in an act of comic relief at a rodeo by dressing up in an Obama mask and acting the fool to the delight of the roaring crowd at the show. What was merely a silly show, that perhaps was not in the best taste, and been portrayed by the enemies of free speech and clear thought as an act of racism and hate speech. The head of the NAACP in Missouri has gone so far as to ask the government to investigate this comedian, and suggest that this show is akin to the violence in Aurora, Newtown and Tucson.
Thoughts and words are sacrosanct in America. We codified our natural rights of freedom of speech in our Constitution and thought it important enough to place it as our first law of the land. While we have stated that our government can pass no law to abridge that right, we have allowed the unwashed masses to tear apart the very meaning of free speech so that now anyone with a following and an agenda can socially and financially destroy anyone that they don’t agree with.
Perhaps it’s time that America rethinks and expands its First Amendment protections.
You cannot have free speech when mobs of angry malcontents can willfully destroy someone for something they say or do. Americans are holding back their tongues and refusing to participate in criticisms of the scoundrels in Washington for fear of their jobs, their privacy, and their own well-being. If the freedom of speech is to have any meaning at all, then it must be vigilantly protected from its destruction no matter the source, public or private.
This rodeo clown is being subjected to thought control in the form of ‘sensitivity training’ by law. Replace the words ‘sensitivity training’ with ‘mind control’ and you’ll have a better understanding of the crimes being perpetrated upon this person. You must act in the way we think and conform to the mindset of the establishment—this is the end result of political correctness.
Worse, leaders who are supposed to represent the natural laws of the land in the Constitution are joining the malcontents and leftist zealots in Washington against this man. Seeking only votes to protect their phony baloney congressional seats, they sacrifice principle and are abandoning reason as they enjoin this public lynch mob and willingly cheer his demise.
There is only one way free speech remains free—it must be all encompassing, unrestricted and most of all, free from the spectacle of mob sentiment. Free speech must be vigorously and jealously guarded. It is only in this way free speech stays free.
