Three life sentences at the minimum, and facing death row, as well.  I'm not surprised.
First Degree murder on 3 counts, and one involuntary manslaugher count. This, beyond a reasonable doubt, goes to the murderer of little babies, Dr. Kermit Gosnell, who looked bewildered and mystified (according to a courtroom witness) as if he's done nothing wrong. Appears to be completely amoral.

Talk about man's inhumanity to man (or maybe man's inhumanity to woman)!

The kidnappings, the rapes, the cruelty, the length of time in captivity, ah, I shake my head in disbelief that this could happen in civilized society. As more information undoubtedly comes out, we will find out indeed just what a sexual sadist this man really is. Prosecutors can easily make the case for castration of Mr. Castro...among other punishments--like death.

That decision will come after the aggravated phase, where the jury will look at elements of cruely in her actions.

But why the defense didn't push harder for a plea of murder 2 (especially when she stabbed Travis 27 times, cut him ear to ear, and shot him), is beyond me, especially given how disliked Arias is. Stay tuned--aggravated phase, then penalty phase of this whole ordeal straight ahead.

It's confusing to hear both sides of the "Miranda Rights visa-via U.S. citizen alleged bomber" issue.

On the one hand is this "...but he's a U.S. citizen so the alledged living Boston Bomber is not an enemy combatant, so his case falls under the awning of the Federal criminal justice system. On the other hand is this "...but he aligned himself with Al-Q groups (even with his brother who was reportedly radicalized during a trip to Russia), and in doing so sides with the enemy of the war we're in, so because certain statues apply for times of war, he is an enemy combatant."

Here's the question for this thread: How far does a U.S. citizen have to go to "side with the enemy?" If the brothers were aligned with the group called Caucausus Emerit (do we really have strong evidence of this yet?) then they have aligned themselves with the enemy...right?

Yesterday, the "white hat" bomber was read his Miranda rights and will be treated in the Federal criminal justice system, so that's that. But the difficult question remains as to just how far does a U.S. citizen has to go with terrorist activity before he/she is considered a turncoat-enemy combatant, especially if the terrorist activity is NOT EXECUTED FROM foreign soil, but rather EXECUTED FROM U.S. soil? Discuss...

We are eternally grateful to all the branches and levels of law enforcement who were able to bring Marathon suspect #2 into custody. We are also grateful to the Boston homeowner who, after his home was inspected by police, checked on his boat only to find a torn tarp, a human blood stain, and a violent 19 year-old terror suspect holed up within it. This suspect, along with his brother, brought Boston to its knees this week. These events made history as another attack on US soil reportedly by Jihadists who used a soft target this time--an iconic outdoor sporting event, in an iconic American city. We are also eternally grateful to all the medical professionals of every level of assistance who saved numerous lives with their quick and expert response. This week we witnessed a mind-numbing, surreal story of slaughter that will be reported on and analyzed for years to come--one of horror that ended in joy. Tonight Boston's streets are filled with cheers and chants of "U-S-A, U-S-A," amid flags flown at half staff.

Some experts consider the Chechnya Muslim gang/criminal types the most brutal of all... Remember the incident at the Russian school where more than 100 children were killed...When these gangs were banned in Moscow in the early 90s street crime went down nearly 50 percent. Seems doubtful they could act alone without foreign involvement.
