An airline says it will help voters distraught over backing the losing candidate in next month's presidential contest flee the country — for free.
JetBlue Airways' new "Election Protection" promotion allows voters the chance to win a free round-trip ticket to one of the airline's 21 international destinations if the election doesn't go their way. Contestants first must preregister at jetblue.com/electionprotection . After the Nov. 6 results are in, the airline will give away 1,006 roundtrip certificates — that's 2012 seats — to participants whose candidate lost.

An argument over the 2012 election led to a domestic battery charge for an elderly Hollywood man who struck his wife after yelling at her "about Obama and Romney," police said Wednesday.
Peter Schwartz, 74, was arrested at his home. Schwartz's wife told police the two had gotten into a verbal argument about "politics" and she ran away when he started yelling at her about "Obama and Romney," the report said.
Schwartz also told police that they had been arguing about the two presidential candidates and said his wife grabbed his shirt and he slapped her on the left side of her face with his open right hand, the report said.
He also pushed her in her chest, causing her to fall in the grass. She was able to run away.

Washington's Pennsylvania Avenue, sometimes called "America's Main Street," is being listed among the nation's endangered landscapes because of neglect and deferred maintenance by the National Park Service.
The grand avenue connecting the Capitol and White House is slowly falling into disrepair, the nonprofit Cultural Landscape Foundation told The Associated Press on Wednesday. Water fountains rarely function, benches are broken and some trees have been removed.
In the 1960s, President John F. Kennedy called for a revitalization of Pennsylvania Avenue. Improvements included the creation of small parks designed by top landscape architects, including M. Paul Friedberg and Carol Johnson. But they haven't been maintained.

A 61-year-old Army veteran is suing the U.S. government for $10 million, claiming negligent care resulted in severe frostbite on his penis, leading to its partial amputation.
Michael D. Nash of Louisville, Kentucky, filed suit in federal court Monday. He is asking for damages for what his lawyer calls "significant mental and emotional distress and trauma as a result of his injuries."
In October 2010, Nash underwent surgery at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Doctors were removing and replacing a malfunctioning penile implant . After the surgery, according to court documents, a nurse applied ice packs to Nash's penis to reduce pain and swelling.
The ice packs remained on Nash's penis for 19 straight hours, "in violation of the standard of care," according to the lawsuit. As a result, Nash's penis was severely frostbitten, which led to
gangrene . We can only hope he doesn't go off...uh, half-cocked.

It's probably safe to assume that this ballsy new beer from Wynkoop has some nutty undertones. Okay, puns aside, what started as an April Fool's Day prank has now become a reality -- Denver's Wynkoop Brewing Company will be tapping the first keg of their Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout beer -- yes, made with real bull testicles -- Monday, Oct. 8.
So, what does the bull testicle beer taste like? A Wynkoop staffer says in the original April Fool's Day video with tongue firmly planted in cheek that, "the results of our efforts is a luscious, creamy stout that delivers loads of flavor -- everything from roasted barely and coffee, to chocolate and nuts."
The beer will be available at Wynkoop next week and at their table at the Great American Beer Festival, Oct. 11-13 in Denver.
