Nearly two in three Americans think President Barack Obama is better suited than Republican rival Mitt Romney to deal with an alien invasion, according to a survey released Wednesday.
National Geographic Channel contacted 1,114 adults across the United States last month for its fanciful opinion poll ahead of its new cable television documentary series "Chasing UFOs."
Thirty-six percent of respondents said they were certain that unidentified flying objects exist. Eleven percent were confident they had spotted a UFO, and 20 percent said they knew someone who claimed to have seen one.
With Obama facing re-election in November, 65 percent said Obama would be more adept than Romney to respond to an alien invasion, with women and younger Americans more likely than men and over-65s to agree with that prospect.

A plan to crack down on ultra-loud grunting in women’s tennis has been "unanimously green-lighted" by the WTA players’ council, representatives from all four majors and the International Tennis Federation, according to USA Today.
Umpires would use a handheld device to measure the on-court sound and rule whether it exceeds a to-be-determined acceptable level, USA Today reported.
But there’s a catch. The current generation of screamers –
like Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka would get a pass. The plan also wouldn’t apply to the men’s game.
Caroline Wozniacki, runner-up in the 2009 US Open,
openly complained about grunting shortly after last year’s tournament.

Coca-Cola and Pepsi contain minute traces of alcohol, scientific research published in France has revealed.
The revelation will cause concern among those who chose the carbonated soft drink for religious, health or safety reasons.
According to tests carried out by the Paris-based National Institute of Consumption (INC) more than half of leading colas contain the traces of alcohol.
These include the brand leaders Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola, while it is mainly only cheap supermarket versions of the drink which are alcohol-free.
‘60 Million Consumers’, the French magazine, publishes the results of the tests in its latest issue.
They suggest that the alcohol levels are as low as 10mg in every litre, and this works out at around 0.001 per cent alcohol.
But the figures will still be enough to upset the thousands of Muslims who regularly drink Cola because their religion forbids them from drinking alcohol.
Those who are teetotal and drink Coke regularly will also be worried, as will those who choose it as an alternative to alcohol when they are driving.

Zombies aren't known for enjoying sit-down meals; most prefer to eat on the run (or shamble).
However, Japanese zombies who want a taste of fine dining will soon get their chance in the form of a zombie-themed restaurant that is opening in Tokyo on July 13.
It's called the Biohazard Cafe and Grill S.T.A.R.S restaurant, and is based on the Japanese version of "Resident Evil" videogames.
Capcom, the company that makes the 'Resident Evil' games, plans to sell limited-edition items at the undead diner and entertain customers hungry for zombie-themed entertainment with dance performances by game characters.
Unlike actual zombies, which never really die, the zombie restaurant is scheduled to only last a year.
The menu hasn't been released -- or exhumed -- but a similarly-themed restaurant that opened in January featured a cake made to look like brains.
