A group is supporting how Sheriff Joe Arpaio was elected.

The organization, Citizens to Protect Fair Election Results, has filed a lawsuit challenging the recall effort against the sheriff.

Attorney for the group, Larry Clayman, says the recall is unconstitional because the Arizona constituion clearly states you cannot recall an elected official within six months after an election.

"If people wanted to oppose Arpaio," he says, "They should have tried to convince voters before the election."

Also, Clayman says a bad precedent would be set.  He says any elected officials would have to put their heads on the chopping block and look over their shoulders everytime they did something courageous or controversial because they might be recalled--and that would not serve anyone's interests.

He says Arpaio won by a wide margin and citizens who cast for him should not have their votes nullified.
