TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ A federal judge in Tucson is being asked to finally rule in a long-lingering case on the adequacy of Arizona's public school programs for students learning the English language.
The filing this week by the Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest says the state won't consider making further changes to the programs until the judge rules.
U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins has had the case under advisement since April 2011. That was after the last filing following a trial that ended in January 2011.
A previous judge ruled that the programs were inadequate, but the U.S. Supreme Court decided in June 2010 that Arizona was entitled to a fresh review.
