New 'Sparky' unveiled, part of partnership with Disney
Arizona State University's mascot, 'Sparky', gets a makeover.
ASU collaborated with The Walt Disney Company to develop his new look. It's part of product and design initiatives through the InnovationSpace program.
The new 'Sparky' will appear appear in comic books, children's books, animated productions and other applications appealing to young audiences.
Disney's connection to ASU goes back to 1946 when Berk Anthony, a Disney artist returning from service in World War II, designed the iconic mascot.
The new mascot costume will debut at a spring football game in April.
