40-year-old Jeremy Barnette is being held on suspicion of seven counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) _ Authorities in northern Arizona say a Bagdad man has been arrested for alleged child exploitation.

Prescott police said Thursday that 40-year-old Jeremy Barnette has been booked into Yavapai (YAV'-uh-peye) County Jail. He's being held on suspicion of seven counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Police responded to a call on Jan. 15 about a possible assault on a 9-year-old girl.

The child's mother says Barnette is a longtime friend and was staying at her home.

The woman says Barnette allegedly entered the girl's bedroom, took off her clothes while she was sleeping and took pictures with his cellphone.

Barnette fled the home and was later stopped by authorities.

Investigators searched his home last week and reported finding pornographic images of young children.

Authorities don't know if Barnette has a lawyer.
