Witnesses reported 'ball of fire'
Two people are believed dead after a small plane crashed on approach to the airport in Casa Grande.
The crash occurred shortly after 11:35 am Wednesday. According to the Casa Grande Fire Department, the plane was approaching for a landing "when it suddenly veered off and dove into the ground" about 50 feet off the runway, according to fire department deputy chief Jim Morgan.
He says it's believed there were two people on board, and no one was observed exiting the plane after it crashed. Witnesses reported a "ball of fire" after the plane hit the ground.
