Both occupants escaped injury

A pilot told witnesses his plane hydroplaned as he tried to land Friday evening at Stellar Airpark in Chandler.

The single-engine Cirrus SR20 touched down on the runway around 6:15 pm, not long after a moderate to heavy rain had begun, and the pilot said he applied the brakes but the plane didn't slow down.  At the end of the runway, the craft hit some gravel which slowed it down before it was stopped by a chain link fence.

The plane's registration number shows it was registered to an owner in Mesa.

The plane's occupants were not seriously hurt.
