Students at a San Francisco middle school are asking Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to stop his well-publicized fight against illegal immigration.
The 8th graders at James Lick Middle School wrote 50 letters to the sheriff in Spanish. The letters criticized Arpaio and his department's emphasis on enforcing immigration laws.
Arpaio is in San Francisco this week to speak about jail policies and immigration. When he found out the school was only blocks from his event, he arranged to go to the school and talk to students. But the school later backed out.
