Says wife asked to be killed
An 85-year-old man accused of killing his wife of more than 40 years pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
Police say George Sanders told them he pulled the trigger because his wife asked him to.
His wife, Virginia Sanders, had been sick and was in a lot of pain.
He told officers she asked him to end her life -- so he shot her in the head.
Deputies say the couple went to the doctor and got some bad news about Virginia's medical condition. Later that night, Sanders shot his wife, then called a caregiver to tell her what he did, according to court documents.
He's next expected to appear court on Jan. 11.
