Near 19th St. and Broadway Rd.
PHOENIX - Five puppies died in a house fire near 19th Street and Broadway Road on Thursday.
Firefighters are still trying to figure out how the fire was started but said it looks like it came from the garage area.
When firefighters arrived, a woman was inside the home with six puppies but she only grabbed one and ran out of the house.
The other five puppies died in the fire.
Officers are believe the woman might be living there as a squatter because there is no electricity in the home. They also said she wasn't being cooperative and left the scene.
They are working on finding her to ask to her more questions.
The fire has been put out. Officers are continuing to investigate what happened.
