Incident Management Teams to help in areas affected by Sandy

The Phoenix All Hazards Incident Management Team has been deployed to New York to assist in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

Members of the Phoenix Fire Department and Phoenix Police Department will help manage emergency personnel. New York State's Emergency Operations Center recruited the team for their expertise in emergency situation management and organization.

"They are basically out there to manage," Larry Nunez, spokesman for the Phoenix Fire Department, said. "They're not actual search and rescue teams but they will manage what operations are ongoing."

The team will serve for two weeks as they manage 400 to 800 emergency workers.
