Attacked with two other agents Tuesday, including Nicolas Ivie - who was killed.

A Border Patrol agent who was wounded in a shooting near the U.S.-Mexico border has been released from the hospital.

The agent underwent surgery after he and two other agents were attacked Tuesday in a rugged hilly area about five miles north of the border. They were responding to an alarm triggered on a border sensor near Bisbee, Ariz.

Agent Nicholas Ivie was killed. The agent who was hospitalized had been shot in the ankle and buttocks.

The third agent wasn't injured.

A federal law enforcement official who spoke on the condition of anonymity says investigators who are scouring the area near the shooting haven't yet found a gun in their search.

The official requested anonymity because information on the search hasn't been publicly released.
