Remains may have been there for some time.
TONOPAH, Ariz. - Body parts, believed to be human, were found spread out over a mile in a canal near 337th Avenue and Orangewood on Monday.
Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies don't know if the body is that of a man or a woman, but said the remains have been there for some time.
"At this point its trying to figure out who it is, find out if anyone is missing and then try to figure out why they're here," said Maricopa County Dep. Christopher Hegstrom.
Deputies have stopped short of calling this a murder investigation. At this point it's being treated as a suspicious death.
