Temporary Noise Control Program in effect

The pilot program has been in effect for about a week.

The downtown area between College and Farmer Avenues are being specifically targeted, as well as between University Drive and Tempe Town Lake.

The East Valley Tribune reports that city leaders believe the pilot program is the first step in evaluating noise impacts on businesses and residents.

One crackdown involves street performers.  They are no longer allowed to use loud drums or amplifiers.
