Three pilots suffered minor eye injuries in the November 9th incidents.
PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for pointing a laser at two commercial aircraft and a police helicopter last year.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 47-year-old Michael Andrew Cerise also must serve three years of supervised probation.
Authorities say three pilots suffered minor eye injuries in the Nov. 9 incidents. A US Airways flight on its final approach to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport with about 200 passengers aboard had to alter its course by 90 degrees to avoid the laser strikes.
Phoenix police responded to a call of lasers being pointed at passing commercial aircraft from the ground.
That led them to Cerise, who said he bought the green laser at a yard sale and was curious to see how far its beam could reach.
