Suspect is foster father to victim

Michael David White was arrested on Tuesday, July 24, during a traffic stop in Tolleson.  It's in connection with an ongoing sexual assault investigation by the Tempe Police Department.

On July 22, an adult victim reported he had been sexually assaulted by a known acquaintance.  The acquaintance - considered by the victim to be his foster father while he was growing up - was identified as Michael D. White, 49, of Goodyear.

Tempe Police say it's believed prior incidents occurred between White and the victim when they resided together at White’s residence(s) in Phoenix and possibly Goodyear.

White was a school social worker at Tolleson High School for over 15 years and is currently employed by the City of Tolleson in the Community Services Department where he works with the youth and elderly.  He was taken into custody without incident and was charged with two counts of Sexual Assault (a class two felony) and one count of Sexual Conduct with a Minor (a class two felony).  Additional charges may follow.  White is currently being held without bond at the 4th Avenue Jail.

There may be additional victims.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
