The boy was riding his bicycle with his friend crossing Arizona Avenue near Knox Road when he was hit by a truck.
Chandler Police say the driver left the scene in a gold colored Dodge Dakota four-door pick-up and left it at an apartment complex.
The driver of the truck, 24-year-old Chandler resident Ronnie Chavez returned to the collision scene with his father and spoke with police.
Chavez was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of Failure to Stop for an Accident Involving Death.
