Man arrested for what police say was killing of a prostitute
Scottsdale police received a 911 call from a worker at the Mission Apartments near 92nd St. & Shea Friday morning. The worker found a woman, on the sidewalk between two garages, with a chest wound.
When officers arrived, they noticed she was in grave condition. The woman died about a 1/2 hour later at the hospital.
The woman is identified as 23 year old Crystal MacMartin. Scottsdale Police say she was an escort who was originally from Alaska.
Officers tracked blood to a nearby apartment and arrested 25 year old suspect Joseph Michael Matthews. Matthews is being booked on a count of Murder and a count of Kidnap.
Investigators say he arranged for a prostitute to come to his apartment, then attacked her with a knife and stabbed her several times when she arrived.
