Phoenix police are searching for a man who kidnapped his estranged partner and opened fire on a patrol car with an assault-style riffle.
Police say a patrol officer, unaware that Angel Padilla had dragged the woman from her home yesterday, pulled Padilla over for a traffic stop.
Padilla fired on the car, but the officer wasn't injured.
He later released the woman.
