AAA: Average annual cost for sedan is $9,000.
The auto club says fuel costs are 14 percent higher than a year ago. The costs of tires, insurance and maintenace are also up. AAA says the national average cost to own and operate a sedan, based on 15,000 miles of driving, is 2 percent more than last year, which is about $170 higher.
But, the annual study finds depreciation costs fell 5 percent from 2011. AAA says it's a reflection of fewer new cars sales which resulted in a relative market shoratge of good used cars.
AAA says the cost for an average sedan is 60 cents per mile. A minivan's average cost is 63 cents per mile and a 4WD SUV costs 76 cents per mile. The full report is at http://www.az.aaa.com/news/documents/YourDrivingCosts2012.pdf
