Dems just wanna have fun.

Sure they look very serious on the Pepsi Center floor... all dressed up in their suits, hoisting their "Unity" signs as they holler their love of Hillary Clinton... but the Democratic Delegates here in Denver also seem to have plenty of time to work on their "game" while they're in town.
After Hillary's speech Tuesday night, Melody and I follow the crowd down to Market Street to see what's going on after hours. We pass a few buildings with bumping music leaking into the street, suited bouncers checking off their list of invitees at private parties, and the secret service cruising their towncars the wrong way down one way streets as they drop off the more important delegates at their destinations. We take it all in, but it seems a world apart. That's not our crowd.
No, our crowd we find in a little sidewalk bar called "Monarck". Walking inside, the place seems to be trying a little too hard with it's leather booths and DJ working a tiny turntable. Looking past that, we notice a mix of locals hanging out after work and suited delegates taking a break from the campaign.
Not to be shy, we plop right down with a group of three... two men in suits, with jackets removed, one young woman in a nicely tailored shirt. They seem to be having a good time after having at least a few drinks. We learn that one of the men in the booth is actually vacationing from England, one is a delegate from Delaware and that the young woman is a random democrat the delegat picked up on the convention floor. All strangers in a strange place. We strike up a conversation just as the group decides to take the party to a strip club. Okay, next please!
We find another couple of guys who are clearly fresh from the DNC, so decide to get their story. We admit we're from a hard core Republican radio station and are finding it a bit hard to keep a straight face at some of the cliches coming from Hillary Clinton earlier in the evening. The delegate, who we find out is from Pennsylvania, concedes even he had to laugh a few times. He then tries to pass his friend off as "Obama's nephew". It doesn't work. We've had enough fun. It's 1 a.m. We're heading back to our hotel for a little more work, a few hours of shut eye... and another big day at the DNC!

DNC Tuesday... Hillary Clinton pledges her support to Barack Obama

There were more than a few standing ovations when Hillary Clinton made her appearance at the DNC, starting before she even took to the stage. Her daughter, Chelsea, narrated a documentary about her mother and what she has meant to the party. As soon as mom took the stage, the crowd was entranced.
It seemed Hillary could do no wrong, as she took a few jabs at Senator John McCain and pleaded her case for an Obama presidency. She told the crowd she would still be a part of an Obama administration, although she stopped short of saying just what role she might take.
The Arizona delegates we spoke with following Hillary's speech seemed genuinely pleased with her performance and re-energized to campaign for Obama.

DNC Monday... The reappearance of Michelle Obama

She's been out of the public eye for a while, some say because she was turning into a bit of an embarrassment for Barack Obama... what with sounding unpatriotic and all. But at day one of the DNC, it's all about Michelle. She's given what everyone around me is calling a heartfelt speech, showing real emotion when talking about her husband and her family, and opening up about her father's battle with Multiple Sclerosis. It seems to hit home with the audience, although they are admittedly a sympathetic crowd.
