Us members of the He-Man Tough-Guy Club are constantly in search of a bigger, scarier gun . . . and at this point, the kind of weapon we have to get to one-up our buddies goes so far beyond what's necessary or even prudent for use in home security as to be truly ridiculous. But big, loud guns that kick like a mule are just FUN, so the one-upsmanship continues.
My buddy Warner Todd Huston has a post about a weapon that fires a bullet just short of an inch in diameter. It's the SSK .905 rifle, which belches out a 2400-grain bullet courtesy of a 240-grain load of smokeless powder, and it's recoil is equivalent to firing ten .30-06 rifles simultaneously. Its muzzle velocity of 2,100 feet per second is pretty average, but consider that this is a very large projectile moving that fast, and it packs a wallop. Enjoy the video . . .
