We're taking two listeners to see legendary Canadian power trio Rush on Sunday, November 25th, at US Airways Arena - compliments of Desert Schools Federal Credit Union.
Yes. That Rush. The one with Geddy Lee on vocals, bass, synthesizers, Taurus pedals, and occasional guitar; Alex Lifeson on guitars and Taurus pedals; and the phenomenal Neil Peart on drums and percussion. And when the topic of rock music drumming comes up, Peart is always on the short list of names discussed. You will not hear discussion of John McJunkin's drumming:
Nor will you hear discussion of Jim Sharpe's drumming:
We're just not that good.
We have chosen to exploit leverage the cultural impact of Mr. Peart's incredible drumming to help us choose our winners. Here's how the contest works: grab your smart phone or video camera and have someone shoot a video of you playing air drums to the first 45 seconds of Rush's Spirit of Radio. (. . . radio . . . see what we did there?) Post your video to YouTube, and send the link to us at jim@kfyi.com by Tuesday at midnight. We'll choose the top videos and put them on our blog Wednesday morning. Then listeners will vote on them, and we will announce the winner on Friday and take that winner and a friend to see the genuine article on Sunday evening.
So break out your video camera, sit down behind your imaginary kit, and show us what you've got. An Evening With Sharpe In The Morning . . . from NewsTalk 550 KFYI . . .
