Bouncy-bouncy-bouncy-bouncy fun-fun-fun-fun-FUN! Maybe I’ve got Tigger and Pooh and Mickey and Goofy on the brain from my little family vacation to the magic kingdom of Orange County, but this morning’s Ham Sandwich Update is all about bounce, nevertheless. I know I had a little more spring in my step over the weekend. Mitt Romney crushed President Obama in the first of their three debates, as we all know, and debate wins can change the electoral calculus. And that phenomenon is our topic. Governor Romney has a new bounce of his own.
A new Gallup poll shows that Mitt Romney was able to put a final nail in the coffin of President Obama’s post-convention bounce, which was already dwindling, and had slipped to within the margin of error. Gallup showed that Obama led Romney by an average 50/45 during the month prior to the debate. Gallup’s new survey was conducted over October 4th through 6th, and shows a dead even tie between the candidates at 47. And the most important thing is that many undecided voters have finally reached a decision – to vote for Mitt Romney (and more on that tomorrow). It ought to be pretty clear why this renders the president vulnerable to being beaten by a Ham Sandwich.
