Rev. Jarrett Maupin's letter to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan initiated the investigation, the Secretary has forwarded the complaint to the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights for review to determine whether or not the civil rights of the students and community were violated. "It is refreshing to know that the federal government is being proactive in the fight to drive out prejudice, practiced in ignorance or with intent, from our public institutions. Public schools should be the last place where minorities or other vulnerable populations have to live in fear or in the shadow of bigotry," the Reverend said. Maupin and others will hold public hearings in the coming weeks to gather formal written complaints regarding the incident from the people victimized. ABC News obtained 12 different versions of the talking points about the Benghazi attacks, which includes scrubbing out any reference to terrorism altogether.
The reason: According to an email from the State Department it "could be abused by members (of Congress) to beat up the State Department for not paying attention to warnings, so why would we want to feed that either? Concerned.."
