While Arizona Governor Jan Brewer does not support the foundation of The Affordable Care Act, she has proposed new legislation that will funnel some of its funds to Arizona’s Medicaid program.

 “I have never supported Obama healthcare,” Brewer said. “That was nothing I wanted to touch.”

But, as she admits elections have consequences and Obamacare is here to stay after its Supreme Court approval, bringing taxpayer money back to Arizona is a priority for the Governor. 

While some fear the possibility that the federal government may cut the funding for this program down the road and the states would be left to make up the difference, Governor Brewer has included in her legislation a “circuit breaker”. This would allow Arizona to opt out of this legislation and not be fully bought in.

Brewer believes other states should follow in her footsteps with this type of legislation.  Accordingly, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has recognized these same benefits as well.
