(Phoenix, AZ) -- Arizona Corporation Commissioner Sandra Kennedy is preparing to subpoena APS and its parent company Pinnacle West about its political spending. Commissioner Kennedy says she's concerned about the millions of dollars in dark money being spent on Arizona's elections since 2014, and APS's refusal to provide information about its spending on political races, lobbying, advertising, and contributions to organizations than can be used to mask dark money spending. Kennedy says APS openly contributed 30-million dollars to fight Proposition 127, the clean energy initiative, but has not been open about its other contributions She'll be inviting her fellow commissioners to sign the subpoena as well.
