AG Warns About Timeshare Scam

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Arizonans are being warned about a spike in scams related to timeshares in Mexico. State Attorney General Mark Brnovich says crooks posing as legitimate real estate agents in Mexico contact people and offer to buy their timeshare for a good price. They get victims to wire them money, supposedly for taxes or to be put in escrow. Then they take the cash and disappear. Brnovich says his office has limited power to go after criminals outside the U.S. He warns that if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
