Teacher Code Of Ethics Proposed

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  A state lawmaker is introducing legislation that would create a code of ethics for Arizona teachers.  It would prohibit political, ideological or religious advocacy in the classroom.  Republican Mark Finchem admits the practice is already banned by state law.  But he says his measure is still needed because no formal code of conduct or code of ethics exists.  In a statement, Finchem says he respects the important role teachers play in society, but that "this is a parental authority matter."
