Tax Break For Military Veterans

A tax break for some military veterans is moving forward at the state legislature.  Under the proposal military veterans who have served at least 20 years would quadruple their current pension tax exemption from 25-hundred dollars to 10-thousand.  The proposal by State Senator Gail Griffin would cost the state about 15 million in lost revenue.  In a 4 to 3 bipartisan vote the Senate Finance Committee forwarded the bill. Griffin asked her panel to not consider it a tax break, but rather a "workforce development bill".  The bill is endorsed by Governor Doug Ducey, however it faces an uncertain future in the full Senate.
