Governor Wants Private Businesses At Rest Stops

Governor Ducey wants private businesses at Arizona rest stops.

The Governor has asked U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao to exempt Arizona from a law that prohibits commercial activity at the state's highway rest stops.

The governor says he wants federal permission to launch a pilot program with private companies to build businesses, such as gas stations and restaurants, at existing rest stops or even put in new stops.

Ducey says that could bring new revenue to the state and provide better services for motorists.
