Spike In Car Thefts In Mesa

Lock your car if you live in Mesa.  The city has seen a jump in vehicle break-ins and car thefts this year, and now police are warning folks to be on the lookout.  The advisory issued Monday urges people to make sure their car is locked and valuables are stored out of sight.

Officials say around 1,300 cars have been broken into this year, which is a six-percent jump from last year.  Investigators say about 65-percent of the cars vandalized were left unlocked.
