Justin Orr has been awarded the CIB (Combat Infantry Badge) for being under fire multiple times with the men in his team. He is awaiting to be awarded the purple heart for sustaining a severe concussion after being hit with an RPG while driving his team in their Humvee. Also, while his team was pinned by an expert sniper, Justin was able to shoot him down 1200 meters away. He is a mild and humble man, yet unflinchingly brave, serving his country. He doesn't expect recognition for doing his job. Yet, he faces Al Quaida Rebels daily, knowing that 2 men from his division have lost their lives and many others in Paktika Province, in the 5 short months he has been there. He has been deployed for 5 months away from his wife and 8 month old daughter that live in Mesa while he is away. Justin learned duty and expected bravery from his exemplary father, William Orr, a Commander of Tempe ASU police. We pray as a family for Justin and all our soldiers to come home safely and ask for all citizens to pray for their behalf. Their station ran out of food for 2 weeks, subsisting on rations and also had no running water for 2 weeks. Where we take these things for granted, our boy just looks at it as another day in the field. Justin has lost 30 lbs. in 5 months of deployment, where I, his mother-in-law, has lost 2 lbs . on my diet and gained 5! We are very proud of our soldier and plan to see him step of that plane in October in New York with a party and plenty of his favorite food! We ask that you choose Justin Orr as a Military Hero, even though if you where to ask him to tell of his heroics, he'd say," just doing my job!". P.S. Justin's dream car is a FORD TRUCK!
