This month's My Military Hero is SGT Steven Lopez of Chandler. US Army SGT Lopez was nominated by his wife, Danielle. SGT Lopez enlisted with the Marines after completion of high school (Corona Del Sol in Tempe) where he was active from 2004-2008 and then re-enlisted in the National Guard from 2008-present. SGT Lopez is currently stationed in Phoenix with the 855 MP Company. From Mrs. Lopez: My husband, has been deployed twice. Once with the US Marine Corps and the other right before we married in 2009 with the Arizona Army National Guard. When he got out of the Marines in 2008, he rejoined the guard shortly after into a unit he knew would deploy. He explained to me once, that he "just had to do what he knew how to do best... that was to defend and protect his country". I think he should be nominated because he has always put others first. Even when he is not in uniform, he is doing to right thing. It's not even that he is being told to, it's because he wants to.
