Marc H.

My husband. My HERO. SSG Marc Howard has served in the US Navy and is currently on active duty with the US Army with nearly 15 years total military service. He has made sacrifices that I don't know that I could. He has been in combat in Iraq and he has seen and done things that most men never should see or do. He has dedicated himself to his country, his community and his family. He shows me every day what the true meaning of dedication, service, loyalty, sacrifice, and love is. He is so humble about his accomplishments and victories and has never once said that he wishes he could be doing anything else with his life. He is proud of wearing his uniform and representing his country. No matter what his assignment has been or where the Army has taken him, I am so blessed every day that he has come home. We have had to live apart for nearly 6 years while he serves his country. Knowing that he was living in horrific conditions in foreign lands so that I could live a good life in the USA is one of the most selfless things a husband could do for his wife. He has received many commondations and awards, medals and ribbons for his service. He was even given a Bronze Star for putting the mission ahead of his own safety. He tucks these items away and rarely talks about how he has become the decorated soldier that he is. He is my hero and he is an unsung hero to many that will never know him, that will never shake his hand, that will never say "thank you" and to some that will never come home to their families again. He does a sometimes thankless job holding his head high, with honor and pride. SSG Marc Howard is a man, a husband, a son, a father, a brother, a soldier, a role model, a leader, a Cavalry Scout (hoooaah), and he deserves to be called a HERO because he is. Thank you for your consideration. Joy Howard
