Ben & Matt’s Million Can Crusade
KNIX Radio, Safeway, Meridian Bank, and Camelback Volkswagen to Collect Canned Food for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Collection at Safeway Stores November 2-25, 2009
In an effort to help Arizona’s hungry, KNIX’s morning duo, Ben & Matt will conduct their Million Can Crusade to collect one-million cans of non-perishable food items for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. 116 Safeway stores state-wide will help in the cause along with valley Meridian Bank locations, and Camelback Volkswagen.
“Last year we threw out the idea of collecting a million cans of food without realizing what a massive undertaking it would turn out to be…. but thanks to this amazing Phoenix community we were able to reach our goal... We know it will take another huge effort, but we are confident everyone will step up again this year and we'll do it.” said Ben and Matt.
“It’s wonderful what Ben and Matt have done to mobilize the community for such an exciting and ambitious project…The families served at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be so thankful for the generosity of everyone involved in the Million Can Crusade," states Stephen J. Zabilski, Executive Director for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Safeway’s Cathy Kloos, Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations added, "For the second year in a row, Safeway is proud to partner with KNIX and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Our efforts will continue to provide much needed food for their pantry, and in addition, this year our efforts will focus on outlying areas as well, to keep the contributions local."
8 Valley Meridian Bank locations will also participate by collecting cans and establishing a Million Can Account for anyone wishing to visit a branch location and make a monetary donation.
"We are pleased to have an opportunity to give back to our community. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s is such a worthy cause and serves a tremendous need in the Valley," said Meridian Bank's Vice President, Giving Committee Chair and Marketing Director, Aimee Martin.
The Official Can Crusade Vehicle from Camelback Volkswagen will make appearances at all Can Crusade events starting in November, from the collection stops to the more than 10 KNIX-clusive concerts planned across the valley.
“As I looked at how Camelback VW Subaru Mazda could best support our community this holiday season, I looked no further than our partners at Clear Channel Radio, especially KNIX as an effective and responsible business leader that values true community involvement,” said Mark Exposito, General Manager of Camelback Volkswagen Subaru Mazda.
