November 8, 2009
Sunday, November 8, 2009 – Noon to 5pm
On Indian School Road between 32nd & 38th Streets
The 2nd Annual “Indian School Corridor - Partners in Prosperity” block party event will be co-sponsored by the Indian School Corridor Citywide Coalition and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) Charities.
Last year’s block party event attracted 15,000 Phoenicians.
We expect to meet or exceed that number this year.
The goals of the block party are as follows:
– To raise money for, and awareness of, the work of the Indian School Corridor Citywide Coalition and that of our charity partners, especially our Co-Sponsor the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) Charities.
– To promote the existing businesses and re-introduce them to the adjacent neighborhoods.
– To introduce new businesses and homeowners to our unique community in the hope that they may relocate here.
The festive street fair atmosphere of our block party, which will include two separate entertainment stages featuring local musicians and a third offering varied and creative educational presentations; an Art Show; a Collectible Car Show; and our unique shops, vendors, and sponsor exhibits will keep shopper’s spirits high throughout the day as they stroll along the “Partners in Prosperity” block party re-discovering the unique personality of the Indian School Corridor.
Our Block Party provides a special and distinctive experience that will make party revelers want the Indian School Corridor shops and restaurants to become a part of their regular shopping and dining habit. It will be obvious for all to see that the success of our Corridor rests upon the genuine partnership between our businesses, our neighborhoods, our police, firemen, parks, neighborhood services, courts, and civic leaders - each working with, and watching out for the other, for the good of all.
The 15,000 or more Phoenicians we are expecting this year will have the opportunity to interact with our businesses, neighbors, city, and charity partners. Our police and their equipment, and special squads will be with us and be part of the education and the fun of the day. Together we will celebrate the twin foundation stones of all prosperity - physical and economic safety.
Most importantly, our “Partners in Prosperity” block party will give financial support to the greater Phoenix Community especially: the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) Charities in gratitude to the families of officers that have been wounded or killed in the line of duty; St. Vincent DePaul, a charity that gives full service support to the homeless; two charities that help at risk youth: Kids Street Park Marc Atkinson Recreation Center, and the Sheriff’s Youth Assistance Foundation. These at-risk children can be the leaders of tomorrow if we lend them a helping hand today. For more information go to www.requiretheprior.org .
