15th ANNUAL GIRL SCOUT WORLD AWARDS: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

TO HONOR ARIZONA WOMEN AND THEIR ACHIVEMENTS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Girl Scouts—Arizona Cactus-Pine Council has opened nominations for the 15th Annual World Awards presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona to recognize outstanding Arizona women and their accomplishments in the community on Sat., Dec. 5, 2009, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, located at 2400 E. Missouri Ave. in Phoenix.

“We created the World Awards to pay tribute to Arizona Girl Scout alumni and current Girl Scouts who exemplify the Girl Scout Promise and Law,” said Tamara Woodbury, CEO of the Girl Scouts—Arizona Cactus-Pine Council. “In making distinguished contributions to their communities and in their professional careers, these women and young women are honored as exemplary leaders.”

Women of Distinction, outstanding Girl Scout alumnae, and Young Women of Distinction, outstanding current Girl Scouts ages 15-18, will be presented World Awards in seven categories representing the worlds of humanity, community, arts, future, learning, courage and leadership.  Nominations are currently being accepted until Sept. 11 and the nomination forms can be accessed at www.girlscoutsaz.org/worldawards.

In addition to the awards presentation, the event will include a luncheon, silent auction and a raffle. Prior to the luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to noon, luncheon attendees are invited to participate in the silent auction and purchase raffle tickets.
