November 5-20, 2009
Joel Anderson, firefighter with the Phoenix Fire Department, Station #11 and former contestant on Survivor: Micronesia, has commited to raising awareness and funds for Crisis Nursery by walking across Arizona. He will be joined by three other firefighters from Station 11. These firefighters from Phoenix Fire Station 11 are walking across Arizona to raise funds and awareness for Crisis Nursery. They are calling their walk "The Long AZ Walk'. The walk is approximately 415 miles and will take place November 5-20, 2009. On November 14th, we will celebrate the midway point of our walk with an event that the community and media are invited to participate. All funds raised will go towards Crisis Nursery to help them raise funds for their Hope for the Holidays Campaign. Phoenix Fire Station #11 is located in front of Crisis Nursery's Children's Shelter in Central Phoenix. Everyday, the firefiighters see children in need receive help from caring, nurturing staff. They believe they are just average guys, but are dedicated to helping Crisis Nursery in anyway they can. Sadly, with the economic downturn there are many more challenges that face families and children in our community. For more information, log on to
