(Undated) -- Benefits paid to Social Security recipients are rising by 1.5 percent next year.

The Social Security Administration said the increase starts in January and will add 19 dollars to the average monthly payment. Benefits are adjusted annually based on the rate of inflation.

Nearly 63-million Americans receive Social Security benefits.
