PHOENIX (AP) and KFYI Newsroom — Maricopa County authorities say a state employee has been arrested in a child pornography case.
County sheriff's officials say 50-year-old James Robert Desilva is being held on suspicion of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Desilva was taken into custody Monday at his El Mirage home. He's being held on a $100,000 bond from a grand jury warrant.
Sheriff's officials say Desilva works as an IT specialist for the Arizona Department of Real Estate.
Sheriff's detectives say they receiving a tip through Child Protective Services of a computer address that was sharing child pornography files and the IP address belonged to Desilva in October of 2011.
Authorities say Desilva allegedly shared files that included at least 70 child porn pictures and videos.
Desilva admitted in 2011 to Sheriff's detectives that he was responsible for sharing the files, however the Sheriffs Department says they worked to find physical proof that back up Desilva's confession.
"Desilva's computer expertise made this case very difficult," says Sheriff Joe Arpaio, "...If and when we gain access to his computer, more charges may be filed.."
The computer specialist also stated he has bomb making and terrorism type videos.
